Job Overview

The Malayalam Teacher is responsible for teaching the Malayalam language, literature, and culture to students, ensuring they gain language proficiency and an appreciation for Kerala's rich cultural heritage. The teacher will also contribute to the overall educational goals of the institution by engaging students in cultural and extracurricular activities related to Malayalam.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Teaching and Academic Delivery
    • Create and prepare innovative lesson plans and deliver lessons.
    • Teach grammar, prose, poetry, and functional Malayalam to students across different levels.
    • Conduct regular assessments, assignments, and exams to evaluate student progress.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students to improve their language skills.
  2. Cultural and Literary Promotion
    • Promote the Malayalam language and Kerala's cultural traditions through storytelling, folklore, and historical lessons.
    • Celebrate important cultural events like Onam, Vishu, and Kerala Piravi through special programs and competitions.
  3. Administrative Responsibilities
    • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
    • Prepare question papers, evaluate answer scripts and document results.
    • Participate in parent-teacher meetings and discuss student progress and improvement areas.
  4. Extracurricular Activities
    • Organize Malayalam competitions like recitation, storytelling etc.
  5. Professional Development
    • Stay updated on modern teaching techniques, Malayalam language research, and literary developments.
    • Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance teaching methodologies and cultural knowledge.
  6. Student Support and Guidance
    • Provide academic support and mentoring to students struggling with the language.
    • Encourage students to appreciate the Malayalam language as part of their cultural identity.
  7. Collaboration and Teamwork
    • Work closely with other language teachers and departments to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
    • Assist in planning and executing school-wide events and programs
