vitamins A, D, and E and are considered one of the healthiest and tastiest
Microgreens.
Materials required in this process: Microgreen seeds, organic soil (preferably), a
plastic container, a light source (sunlight or artificial), and a spray bottle filled with
water.
Now, let’s look at the steps involved in growing our own Micro greens from scratch in
just 4 simple steps.
Step: 1) Selecting the best media-: Growing media is
classified into three types.
SOIL BASED MEDIA: Using a plant mix that
drains well, is free of clumps and stones and
doesn’t compact easily. Since we are
harvesting the crop at an early stage, adding
the nutrients to the soil mix should be done conservatively. Also, remember to
keep the surface of the soil damp but not too wet.
SOIL LESS MEDIA: It is comprised of different non- soil levels. Like coco-coir
or blends of vermiculite. They can be leveled and lightly firmed so we can have
a clean surface which is important at harvest time.
HYDROPONIC METHODS: It is a simple, clean, and easy method. It involves
the use of growing media which absorbs and retains water to keep the
germinating seeds and emerging greens continuously moist. When done
correctly your crop will be easier to harvest.
Firstly, take a plastic container and put a sufficient amount of organic soil in it.
After that sow the seeds you chose to grow on top of the soil. Put another thin
layer of soil to cover the seeds. Then, using your spray bottle, sprinkle enough
water on to the soil, and remember to keep it moist.
